Turkey Bauxite Deposits and Reserves Around 200 bauxite deposits have been found in Turkey. These are collected in 10 different regions. 90% of the world bauxite production is used in the production of alumina and aluminum, the rest is used in the chemical, refractory, cement and abrasive industries.

Bohmitic in Seydişehir-Akseki, Silifke-Taşucu and Zonguldak regions,
Muğla-Milas, Alanya, Bolkardağı and Tufanbeyli-Saimbeyli regions are diasporitic,
It is of ferrous bauxite type in İslahiye-Payas and Yalvaç-Şarkikaraağaç regions.

Total boehmitic bauxite reserve is 53 million tons, diasporitic bauxite reserve is 104 million tons, ferrous bauxite reserve is 100 million tons. Our bauxite reserves suitable for the production of aluminum are 87 million tons.As aluminum raw material, our most important resources are the deposits in Seydişehir and Akseki regions.Turkey Production and Consumption QuantitiesAs aluminum raw material, our most important resources are the deposits in Konya Seydişehir and Akseki regions. 200,000 tons of alumina is obtained by processing around 450,000 tons of bauxite per year. 120,000 tons of alumina is used in the production of liquid aluminum. Most of the remaining 80,000 tons is exported and a very small portion is consumed in the refractory industry.In general, about 2 tons of alumina (Al2O3) or 1 ton of aluminum metal is obtained from about 4 tons of dry bauxite ore.The annual aluminum import of our country is at the level of 500 million dollars in total, 250 million dollars of which is unprocessed aluminum and semi-finished aluminum.

Turkey has 0.4% of the world's bauxite reserves and 0.3% of its annual production.
95% of the bauxite deposits in our country are located in the Taurus belt. The total of exploitable bauxite reserves in Turkey is around 87 million tons.
