Iron Ore

Hematite iron ore deposits are found in Turkey, predominantly in the western provinces. Hematite is an iron oxide mineral that is one of the most important iron ores due to its high iron content.

The Iron ore mines of Timcorp is having a very good quality hematite ore, which the grade of Fe ranges from (58-60%), Al (15%), and Si ( below 4%). 

Geologically, the formation of hematite in Turkey can be traced back to several geological periods, predominantly the Paleozoic and Mesozoic eras. These formations are often associated with volcanic activity and tectonic movements that led to iron-rich sediments being deposited in basins. Over time, these sediments underwent metamorphosis under heat and pressure, eventually forming hematite deposits.

In some cases, hematite can also form via the weathering process of other iron-rich minerals in hot, oxygen-rich environments. This process can lead to the creation of banded iron formations (BIFs), which are sedimentary rocks containing layers of iron oxides (like hematite) interbedded with bands of iron-poor shales and cherts.

The hematite ores in Turkey are typically high-grade, making them economically significant. These resources contribute to the domestic production of iron and steel, but the country remains a net importer of iron ore to meet its demand.
